In managing your suppliers you might have different levels of suppliers and control them based on their capabilities. There capabilities might be qualifications or certifications that you can use to pick one supplier over the other. Or if they need special skills to handle certain types of products. In AX you can setup vendor certifications that you can then use to look up in process like ordering, planning etc.
