Since the release of Microsoft Dynamics 365, there have been a lot of rumors around when Microsoft support for Dynamics AX 2009 and Dynamics AX 2012 will end. Microsoft Dynamics AX support timelines actually remain unchanged. Microsoft keeps the lifecycle information on its support website, but I find it a little hard to view all at once, so I put together a little chart to give you the chance to see it all at one glance.

Microsoft Dynamics AX is supported for 10 years from its go-to-market (GTM) release date.  The first five of those years are considered “Mainstream” support where you can submit support incidents and the product development team will continue to release updates to the product.  After 5 years, the product enters a phase called “Extended” support where you can submit support incidents but the product development team will only release security-related updates to the product.  There will not be further development on general hotfixes during that time.  Premier customers can pay additionally for a program where they can receive hotfixes during that period.
