Issue

Some customers have recently been hitting a duplicate key error on Dynamics AX 2012 R2 when literals are turned on for DATAAREAID and partition columns via configuration settings. The issue happens while switching companies or while starting AX in another partition.

This is caused by a bug related to queries that are joining a company specific table with a non company specific table after switching companies and when the DATAREAIDLITERAL server config option is turned on. In essense, data is not being retrieved in the company specific table on an outer join, and nothing is retrieved on an inner join after switching companies. The workaround is to turn off DATAAREAIDLITERAL flag.

Applicability

The issue occurs on a particular Dynamics AX 2012 R2 environment under the following circumstances

• AX 2012 R2 environment has a kernel build between 6.2.1000.7442 and 6.2.1000.7876
• Literals are turned on for DATAAREAID and partition columns on SysGlobalConfiguration

Recommendation

We have addressed the root cause of the issue and the fix is available in the kernel builds 6.2.1000.7877 and later.

If you have experienced this issue, the recommendation is to apply the latest kernel build. AOS server must be restarted for the fix to take effect.
