Oracle is second largest enterprise applications provider in the world -- but it, too, recognizes the growing importance of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

However, Oracle faces an obstacle in this segment. As a research note from AMR Research analyst Judy Sweeney recently observed, "Most small companies still think Oracle's products are too big and complex for them."

Oracle is working to change both the reality and the perception.
